Melissa McCarthy hopes her upcoming JonBenét Ramsey miniseries does more than just hook true crime fans.
TMZ caught up with the acclaimed actress at LAX on Monday, where she said she hopes “The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey” will spark a fresh investigation into the decades-old cold case.
McCarthy, who transforms into JonBenét’s mother, Patsy, for the series, also wants the project to encourage more empathy for those affected by true-crime tragedies. In the clip, she says people have gotten a bit too comfortable treating real-life horrors like spectator sports.
