The MCU Can Finally Fix One Of Its Most Underrated Villains

The upcoming Disney+ series “Vision Quest” will see the return of the notorious villain Ultron in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. James Spader is confirmed to reprise his role as Ultron, an artificial intelligence originally created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in 2015. Initially designed to defend Earth from alien threats, Ultron turned against the Avengers, believing that the only way to save the world was to eliminate them and all of humanity. Although Ultron was defeated by the Avengers during the Battle of Sokovia, there have been long-standing theories about his potential return, and now, these speculations are becoming reality.

Almost ten years after the release of Age of Ultron, Ultron is set to return in Vision Quest, which will be part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most likely in 2026. With the exception of an alternate-reality version of the character in the animated series What If…? and in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, this will be the first time Ultron has returned since his debut. This is particularly exciting for fans as it presents an opportunity to delve deeper into the character and address some of the criticisms of Ultron’s initial appearance in Age of Ultron.

Ultron Gets Stronger With Each New Form

The MCU Can Finally Fix One Of Its Most Underrated Villains

Ultron is one of Marvel’s most significant villains in the comics. He frequently reemerges to threaten the Avengers. One of the villain’s main characteristics is his role as a recurring antagonist, unlike his one-time appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the comic book version, Ultron is programmed to learn from his mistakes, continuously improving and evolving with each return. Consequently, Ultron becomes an increasingly formidable foe with each encounter with the Avengers. It seems inevitable that Ultron will eventually grow powerful enough to triumph, leading to the destruction of the Avengers and his ultimate world domination.

The MCU can develop its portrayal of the deadly artificial intelligence by incorporating a crucial element from the comics. In Ultron’s return in Vision Quest, he will have absorbed lessons from his prior defeat at the hands of the Avengers. More formidable and seeking vengeance, Ultron will pose an even greater threat than he did in Age of Ultron. While he may not yet be prepared to conquer the world, Ultron could evolve into a recurring adversary in the MCU, steadily increasing in strength and tactics until he becomes too powerful for the Avengers to overcome. With each subsequent appearance, Ultron would edge closer to becoming the most formidable villain in the entire MCU.

Ultron Is Coming Back At The Perfect Time

The MCU Can Finally Fix One Of Its Most Underrated Villains

The landscape of filmmaking has changed significantly since Marvel Studios released Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. Today, there are countless movies and television shows about artificial intelligence, reflecting real-world fears about the advanced technology and its place in society. Ten years ago, AI was mostly a facet of science fiction, but in the years since, it has become a significant part of everyday society. AI is developing faster than it can be regulated, leading to desperate battles in various industries as workers attempt to save their jobs and everyday people fight to preserve their privacy. The conversation around artificial intelligence has become much more nuanced since Ultron’s live-action debut, making now the perfect time for the character to reintroduce himself into the debate.

In the plethora of movies that explore the theme of human versus artificial intelligence, “Vision Quest” has the potential to offer a more philosophical perspective. Despite posing existential threats, AI also brings numerous beneficial innovations, spanning the medical field to advances in technology. The return of Ultron in “Vision Quest” could be portrayed with more depth, as the resurfacing robot persists in his quest to conquer the world. While Vision would undoubtedly intervene to thwart Ultron, the thoughtful synthetic being would also acknowledge the potential benefits Ultron could offer humanity. The showdown with Ultron for the second time would transcend mere physical combat, instead representing a crucial decision that could shape the future of humanity.

Ultron Can Help White Vision Find Himself—Or Corrupt Him

The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project, “Vision Quest,” has become highly anticipated in Phase 6. Audiences are eager to see how Ultron’s return will be portrayed. This Disney+ series will determine the future of White Vision as he grapples with his identity after absorbing the original Vision’s memories at the conclusion of “WandaVision.” Paul Bettany’s superhero is at a pivotal moment in the MCU, oscillating between hero and villain. His reunion with Ultron, his original creator, will significantly impact his choices as the former Avenger seeks to find himself once again.

The upcoming storyline in the MCU will reveal where White Vision went after WandaVision, as well as shed light on his future. There’s a possibility that reuniting with Ultron could influence White Vision’s path towards heroism or villainy. Ultron may try to merge with Vision’s body to carry out his original plan of becoming an ultimate weapon, potentially leading to devastating consequences for humanity if successful. On the other hand, facing Ultron might inspire White Vision to fully embrace heroism, prompting him to stop his creator from taking over the world, much like the original Vision did.

Vision Quest’s return brings an exciting new opportunity for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore one of its most intriguing characters from Phase 2. Ultron’s return in the upcoming Disney+ series finally can give the villain the spotlight he deserves.

New MCU Rumor Reveals When Dafne Keen’s X-23 Will Return

Marvel fans will see Dafne Keen’s Laura/X-23 again in two more Marvel Cinematic Universe movies following her appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus has revealed that X-23 will return for the Avengers films. This means that the adoptive daughter of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be part of both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The two-part crossover epic will unite the heroes of the MCU against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively. Keen has shown interest in returning to the MCU as X-23, stating she felt they had “only scratched the surface with her since she’s such a complex character. She’s so cool, just from a fan’s standpoint.”

Before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, Keen made her debut as Laura Kinney/X-23 in the 2017 X-Men film, Logan. Her portrayal of the young mutant received widespread acclaim. There were plans for her to reprise the role in a solo film, but once Marvel Studios regained control of the X-Men, those plans were scrapped.

Kevin Feige Reveals Why They Spoiled X-23's Return

In the lead-up to Deadpool & Wolverine, Keen found herself repeatedly fielding inquiries regarding her potential return to the MCU as X-23. The actor, bound by secrecy, had to either evade the topic or fabricate her involvement. However, Keen harbored a desire to attend the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, a notion that initially met with reluctance from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. The hesitation stemmed from the fact that her participation in the film had yet to be officially disclosed. Fortunately, as Feige shared with Variety, Disney proposed unveiling X-23 in the movie’s final trailer, highlighting “an emotional core of the movie.” Marvel acquiesced, thus allowing Dafne to attend the premiere, as Feige recounted.

In the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Keen reprises her role as X-23 from “Logan.” She joins forces with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and a version of Wolverine played by Jackman as part of the resistance group fighting against the Void. The group also includes Elektra (played by Jennifer Garner), Blade (played by Wesley Snipes), and Gambit (played by Channing Tatum). In the movie’s third act, X-23 appears to be consumed by Alioth, but Deadpool is able to convince the TVA to save her and the rest of the resistance from the Void. This allows X-23 to reunite with Wolverine on Earth-10005.

What Else Has Dafne Keen Been in?

Between the movies Logan and Deadpool & Wolverine, Keen portrayed Lyra Belacqua in the series adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, Ana “Ani” Cruz Oliver in the 2015 series The Refugees, and Ana in the 2020 film Ana. She also played the role of young Padawan Jecki Lon in the Star Wars series The Acolyte, which was canceled earlier this week due to low ratings.

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently being shown in theaters.

Did Loki Season 3 Just Get Set Up By Deadpool 3?

“Deadpool & Wolverine” had significant connections to “Disney+’s Loki,” leading to theories that Marvel Studios might be laying the groundwork for its Season 3 return. Marvel Studios introduced the Time Variance Authority (TVA) on Disney+ in “Loki” as a Multiversal police force with connections to Kang the Conqueror. After two seasons of “Loki,” the TVA has expanded its MCU presence by playing a major antagonist role in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

Deadpool & Wolverine Teases the TVA & Loki's Future

In a recent appearance of the TVA outside of the TV show Loki, Agent Paradox pulled Deadpool from his timeline to warn him about the end of his reality after the death of its Anchor Being, Wolverine. This prompted Deadpool to seek out a new Wolverine to save his world, while Agent Paradox tried to destroy Earth-10005 using a Time Ripper.

After the events of “Loki,” the TVA has changed its mission. Now, instead of only watching over the Sacred Timeline, they are also keeping an eye on all the universes, including The Void. This new focus may have been influenced by the TVA’s efforts to track Kang Variants after the events of “Loki” Season 2. They are now monitoring the entire Multiverse to stay informed about the actions, intentions, and motivations of these variants. Additionally, it seems that Hunter B-15 has taken on a more prominent role within the TVA.

The TVA has shifted its focus from pruning every Earth outside the Sacred Timeline to maintaining all the timelines. This change makes them more like Multiversal police than before. With the TVA’s new direction, there is potential for Marvel Studios to explore fresh stories and possibly return to where it all began in Loki Season 3 to continue the saga.

Is Loki Season 3 Happening After Deadpool & Wolverine?

In December 2023, producer Kevin Wright was approached by TVLine and suggested that the team wouldn’t want to rush into a Season 3 if there’s not a good story to tell.

“For two seasons, I’ve loved working with this team… I would love to keep telling those stories with them, in this world. I don’t think any of us would ever want to rush into a Season 3 if there’s not a good story to tell.”

Wright considered creating a spin-off series centered around the TVA, proposing a show that could be likened to “Better Call Saul” in relation to “Loki” being akin to “Breaking Bad.”

“But I think this team could go off and tell other stories. Maybe it’s not ‘Loki’ Season 3. Maybe there’s something we can continue to do at the TVA, and it’s like our ‘Better Call Saul’ to ‘Loki’s’ ‘Breaking Bad.’ That would be cool, to me.”

Wright also talked with the Phase Zero podcast in November last year to discuss how Loki Season 2 was created as “a closing of the book” to “finish the story,” indicating that the first two seasons were always framed as a two-part affair.

“I will say this: I said it and I know [head writer] Eric Martin kind of repeated it… We did treat this like a closing of the book. Season 1, one chapter. Season 2, another chapter. And that was kind of a challenge from Owen [Wilson] after Season 1. He’s like, ‘Nobody ever has the courage to close the book. Like, let’s close the book. Let’s finish the story.’ And it felt right.”

He also expressed his fondness for the Loki world, adding how he would “love to keep telling characters with Sylvie and the TVA:”

“I would say this: I love this world. I love these characters. I would to keep telling characters with Sylvie and the TVA. Obviously, I would love to tell more Loki stories if that becomes a possibility. Right now, I don’t see how it is with what he’s doing.”

In a separate interview with Variety in October 2023, Wright mentioned that although “Loki” was left “open-ended,” there were no specific plans for Season 3. However, the producer emphasized that there are “many, many, many more stories” still to be told in this world.

“I think it’s open-ended. We certainly did not develop this season going, ‘We have to tee up Season 3’ — in the way that we did with Season 1, where there was a very specific, ‘Hey, we’re coming back.’ But I also think that where this show goes, there certainly can be many, many, many more stories told with Loki in the ‘Loki’ world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character.”

The Multiverse Saga is expected to conclude with Secret Wars in under three years. It is unlikely that Loki Season 3 will be released before then. If the Disney+ series does return, Marvel Studios might save it for the next saga to address the aftermath of the Avengers blockbusters or other stories involving the God of Mischief.

What Comes Next for the TVA After Deadpool & Wolverine?

At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski announced a new five-issue comic series called TVA. The series is written by Katharyn Blair, who was an executive story editor on Loki Season 2 and co-wrote Episode 4, “Heart of the TVA,” alongside showrunner Eric Martin. According to Marvel, the series will focus on the TVA recruiting a new band of heroes to travel the Multiverse on vital missions to repair wild temporal anomalies and keep reality from shattering.

“The mysterious all-knowing entity who keeps the TVA ticking like clockwork will recruit a new band of heroes charged with monitoring and regulating all realities and timelines. Join Ghost-Spider and other universe-displaced entities including Captain Carter, a heartbroken Remy LeBeau, and more as they’re sent throughout the Multiverse on vital missions to repair wild temporal anomalies and keep reality itself from shattering!”

Remember this: As the TVA is an organization that monitors the entire Multiverse, one might expect the comic series to feature the same version familiar to fans from the MCU, including the familiar character Hunter B-15. With the expansion of the TVA’s stories into the comics, fans may see them continuing to play a major role in the Multiverse Saga going forward. This is even as Marvel Studios leaves Kang behind in favor of focusing on Doctor Doom.

Loki Season 3 is not on the horizon, so it’s uncertain when the TVA will next appear on screens. It’s possible that they could make a surprise appearance in The Fantastic Four: First Steps or What If…? Season 3, but the next likely appearance is in 2026 with Avengers: Doomsday, unless they are not included alongside Kang. Characters such as Hunter B-15, Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson), Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan), Miss Minutes, Loki, and Sylvie could potentially return. Additionally, Deadpool & Wolverine is currently playing in cinemas, and both seasons of Loki are available for streaming on Disney+.

August 5, 2024 Anthony Mackie reveals game-changing ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ spoiler

Anthony Mackie reveals game-changing ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ spoiler

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen its fair share of spoiler leaks over the years, with actors like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo known for accidentally revealing details. However, Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson, aka Falcon and the new Captain America, recently dropped a bombshell about the movie “Captain America: Brave New World”. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he, along with fellow stars Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Tim Blake Nelson, and Giancarlo Esposito, revealed a significant detail about an established MCU character, potentially annoying Marvel Studios’ head honcho Kevin Feige.

Mackie and his co-stars didn’t seem particularly upset or embarrassed about the reveal. It’s possible that they’ve been given permission to discuss certain details without going into too much depth. If not, Feige might be at home right now, frowning and lamenting how the studio has another situation on its hands similar to what happened with Holland. So, what exactly did Mackie say, and is it something we should be excited about?

What Captain America: Brave New World spoiler did Anthony Mackie reveal?

Mackie and Ford’s exchange went like this:

Mackie: “The events of Hulk and his film don’t pertain to this movie at all.”

Ford: “Aw, come on, man!”

Mackie: “When he shows up… Not Red Hulk! The other Hulk! There are multiple Hulks! So, when he shows up…”

Ford: “There are?”

Mackie: “Yeah. But there’s only one Red Hulk.”

Ford: “Good.”

Mackie: “There’s only one.”

Ford: “Okay, man. Good.”

Mackie: “That’s it. Solid. There will never be another Red Hulk.”

Ford: “I’m happy! Okay go on, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

Mackie: “When he shows up, his world, his universe, his story, is completely separate from what… the way we utilize him in our story.”

There you have it – Mackie’s big reveal was that the original Hulk from the MCU, played by Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, will appear in “Captain America: Brave New World.” This will likely lead to an epic showdown between the Red Hulk and Hulk. So, to clarify, yes, fans have every reason to be excited.

Also, Mackie mentioned “multiple Hulks,” suggesting that characters like She-Hulk and Skaar might appear as well. This is just speculation at this point. If any of this turns out to be true, it would be a huge relief for Sam Wilson, as he seems to be outmatched in his fight against Red Hulk, even with the help of other non-superpowered heroes like Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon played by Ramirez. It’s worth noting that Ford recently pretended not to know who Red Hulk was, so it’s possible that there’s some misdirection going on with Mackie’s comments. However, it seems unlikely they would get fans’ hopes up about a Ruffalo appearance if it wasn’t happening, so we can assume it is.

We don’t have to wait too long to find out, as Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters worldwide in February 2025.

July 28, 2024 ‘Avengers 5’ Just Got Major Title Change

‘Avengers 5’ Just Got Major Title Change

Marvel Studios has announced a major change for the upcoming fifth Avengers film. Originally named The Kang Dynasty, the movie will now be called Avengers: Doomsday. The Russo Brothers will return to direct the film, and Robert Downey Jr. will portray the iconic role of Doctor Doom. The movie is scheduled for release in May 2026. The announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, surprising fans. The film’s title change from The Kang Dynasty to Doomsday suggests a shift in the storyline from Kang to the introduction of Doctor Doom as a key antagonist.

This major change signifies Marvel’s shift away from the multiverse and Kang-centric storylines that they had been developing from 2021 to 2024. The decision comes after Jonathan Majors was let go from his role as Kang the Conqueror. With Majors no longer part of the project, Marvel has chosen to use this as an opportunity to take the story in a new direction, focusing on a villain who is more down-to-earth and dangerously threatening.

Who Is Doctor Doom?

Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, is one of Marvel’s most formidable and iconic villains. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, he was introduced in The Fantastic Four #5 in 1962. Doom is the ruler of the fictional nation of Latveria and possesses an unparalleled genius-level intellect. He is a master scientist and sorcerer, and his armor provides him with superhuman strength, durability, and a wide range of advanced technologies.

Doom is often motivated by a mix of personal vendetta, a thirst for power, and a twisted sense of duty to save humanity, albeit through his authoritarian rule. His complex character has made him a compelling adversary not only for the Fantastic Four but for the entire Marvel Universe. Doom’s introduction into the MCU, especially portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., is expected to bring a new level of depth and intrigue to the franchise. It’s uncertain whether Downey will play Victor von Doom or simply Tony Stark who becomes Doctor Doom as a variant character, but hopefully it is the former.

July 11, 2024 Wait, did Ryan Reynolds just let slip that Hugh Jackman will stick around as the MCU’s Wolverine?

Wait, did Ryan Reynolds just let slip that Hugh Jackman will stick around as the MCU’s Wolverine?

Have you noticed something about the Deadpool & Wolverine marketing? Even though Hugh Jackman announced his return to his beloved role in 2022, the upcoming movie has never promoted itself as Logan’s last ride. In contrast, the 2017 movie Logan heavily marketed as the character’s final appearance turned out to be misleading. Given how audiences respond to finales, like Avengers: Endgame, it’s surprising that Marvel hasn’t emphasized this angle. Perhaps this is because Jackman might not be done playing Wolverine, and he could have more appearances in the MCU. What if Ryan Reynolds confirmed this?

Co-stars, brothers, and prank-masters Reynolds and Jackman are currently on a world tour to promote Deadpool 3. Most recently, they were in Berlin where Reynolds praised his old pal during a fan event by saying, “There’s only been one Wolverine, the reason is no one can do it except him.”

Just one friend praising another? Maybe, but this would be an interesting thing to say if Marvel was actively seeking a new Wolverine, as we had previously thought. Kevin Feige has confirmed that the launch of the X-Men and mutantkind into the MCU will begin with Deadpool & Wolverine. We assumed this meant a rebooted and recast team was on the way. Perhaps this will be true for everyone else, but it seems that Jackman will continue to be the one and only Wolverine for a while longer.

There have been persistent rumors that Jackman could return for a major role in Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s clear that he’s enjoying this unexpected second wave of Wolverine, as he has even declared that Deadpool 3 “exceeded anything else” he’s ever done as this character — yes, including Logan. Given that, it would surely be quite easy for Reynolds, Feige, and others to convince him to stick around for a few more movies. In other words, Taron Egerton should back off because Jackman is not done yet!
