November 27, 2024 Wild Doctor Doom Theory Brings Scarlet Witch Back

The topic “Wild Doctor Doom Theory Brings Scarlet Witch Back” has two versions, a written one, and a video version below the written one.

The emotional sacrifice of the Scarlet Witch in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” has sparked a fascinating new theory in the MCU that connects Wanda Maximoff to Doctor Doom. As one of the most popular and beloved characters in the MCU, Elizabeth Olsen’s portrayal of the Scarlet Witch made her sacrifice in the 2022 sequel surprising for many fans. In the two years since the film’s release, various theories have emerged regarding how the Scarlet Witch could return to the MCU, and a recent theory links her to the new overarching antagonist of the Multiverse Saga.

Following Jonathan Majors’ conviction and subsequent firing from Marvel Studios, Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, he will not reprise his role as Iron Man; instead, he is set to play the iconic Marvel villain, Doctor Doom. Downey Jr.’s casting as Doctor Doom has sparked some confusion, but a new theory suggests an interesting connection that may clarify this unconventional choice. This theory also links Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom to Wanda Maximoff, potentially paving the way for the Scarlet Witch’s highly anticipated return to the MCU.

Doctor Doom May Be A Variant In The Void In Avengers: Doomsday

Wild Doctor Doom Theory Brings Scarlet Witch Back

A new theory proposed by Comicodigy clarifies the confusion regarding Robert Downey Jr.’s recasting as Doctor Doom. It suggests that he may be a variant who was pruned by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and sent to the Void at the End of Time. The Void was first introduced in Loki Season 1 and further explored in Deadpool & Wolverine, serving as the dumping ground for everything the TVA prunes. Downey Jr.’s transformation into Doctor Doom could represent a significant divergence from the Sacred Timeline, which would lead to his pruning and subsequent placement in the Void.

Viewers have already witnessed this trend with many entertaining characters from the MCU, including various Loki and Deadpool variants, as well as some of the franchise’s most formidable villains. Notably, Robert Downey Jr.’s version of Doctor Doom could follow a storyline similar to Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova from the Deadpool and Wolverine series. Cassandra was pruned at a young age but struck a deal with the TVA to build her own empire in the Void, rather than being consumed by Alioth. It’s possible that Doctor Doom did something similar, which could set the stage for him to partner with the Scarlet Witch.

The Scarlet Witch Has Already Been Teased To Be In The Void After Doctor Strange 2

After realizing the error of her ways in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch destroyed the Darkhold Castle on Mount Wundagore, eliminating every copy of the Darkhold across the multiverse and seemingly sacrificing herself in the process. While Marvel Studios appears to confirm Scarlet Witch’s death in subsequent projects, particularly in “Agatha All Along,” Comicodigy’s theory suggests that she may not have actually died. Instead, she might have inadvertently pruned herself, allowing her to return to the MCU as a citizen of the Void.

Although the details of how this would happen haven’t been fully explored, there is a significant clue in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The ceiling of the Resistance team’s hideout features a statue of the Scarlet Witch that resembles the one carved into the walls of Darkhold Castle. If this monument ended up in the Void after the events of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” it suggests that Wanda Maximoff herself may have been transported there as well. This implication raises the possibility that she is still alive and may have found her way into the presence of Doctor Doom.

Why Doctor Doom & The Scarlet Witch Could Be Connected In The MCU

Wild Doctor Doom Theory Brings Scarlet Witch Back

After the events of “Avengers Disassembled” and “House of M” in Marvel Comics, Wanda Maximoff blocks her memories of her true identity and seeks refuge in Transia. However, she is soon taken to Latveria by Doctor Doom. In the 2010 storyline “Avengers: The Children’s Crusade,” the Young Avengers—led by the Scarlet Witch’s reincarnated sons, Wiccan and Speed—discover that Doom manipulated Wanda into amplifying her powers, which led to the earlier events. He then convinced her to fall in love with him and even to become his bride.

Marvel Studios has laid a solid foundation for adapting “The Children’s Crusade” into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This is particularly evident after the events of “Agatha All Along,” in which Billy Maximoff is reincarnated in the body of William Kaplan. Together with Agatha Harkness, he embarks on a quest to find his similarly reincarnated brother, Tommy. It is highly likely that the new Wiccan (Billy) and Speed (Tommy) will join the anticipated Young Avengers team, who could be searching for the Scarlet Witch. According to a theory from Comicodigy, they might discover the Scarlet Witch being held captive by Doctor Doom, mirroring a storyline from Marvel Comics.

The Void Could Become Doctor Doom’s Kingdom In Avengers: Secret Wars

The idea that Doctor Doom could be residing in the Void supports a significant theory that has been discussed since the Void was first introduced in the first season of “Loki” in 2021. The Void resembles a patchwork landscape formed from the numerous realities and variants that the TVA has pruned over the millennia. This concept is reminiscent of Battleworld from Marvel Comics’ 2015 “Secret Wars” event. In that storyline, Doctor Doom absorbs the power of the cosmic Beyonders, enabling him to gather fragments of universes destroyed by incursions and save many variants on his new patchwork planet, Battleworld.

Note: So far, Robert Downey Jr. has only been confirmed to appear as Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” However, there is speculation that he might also be involved in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” “Spider-Man 4,” and the as-yet-unconfirmed “Doctor Strange 3.”

Returning MCU directors, the Russo brothers, have promised to adapt “Secret Wars” as faithfully as possible in “Avengers: Secret Wars,” set to be released in 2027. It’s likely that Battleworld will be featured, and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom may even evolve into God Emperor Doom. Importantly, the inhabitants of Battleworld have no memories of their previous lives, which might explain why the Scarlet Witch has not made any attempts to return following her appearance in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” If she is in the Void with Doom, she may not remember her life in the MCU, but this situation is likely to change soon.
