The topic “Here’s When Venom: The Last Dance’s Streaming Debut Is Now Expected” has two versions, a written one, and a video version below the written one.
Based on previous releases from Sony Pictures, fans may be able to estimate a rough timeframe for when “Venom: The Last Dance” will be available on digital platforms and streaming services. This film officially concludes the trilogy of “Venom” movies featuring Tom Hardy, leaving many fans questioning whether Venom actually died in the movie.Â
For instance, “Venom 3” features a total of eight Symbiotes from the Marvel universe, as Eddie Brock and Venom find themselves on the run from multiple factions.
When Will Venom: The Last Dance Release on Digital?
“Venom: The Last Dance” was just debuted in theaters on October 25. Given the recent trend of theatrical-to-digital releases from Sony Pictures, it’s easy to anticipate when the film might become available for purchase on digital platforms.
“The Last Dance” is the latest major release from Sony Pictures in the past year. The company has also premiered several other significant films, including “Madame Web,” “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” and “It Ends With Us,” all in 2024.
Recently, six movies from Sony Pictures have been released, each with a theater-to-digital window ranging from 30 to 60 days. Below are some examples of these films, including their theatrical and digital release dates, along with the number of days between the two releases for each project:
- Anyone But You:
- Theatrical: December 22, 2023
- Digital: February 20, 2024 (60 days later)
- Madame Web:
- Theatrical: February 14, 2024
- Digital: March 15, 2024 (30 days later)
- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire:
- Theatrical: March 22, 2024
- Digital: May 7, 2024 (46 days later)
- Bad Boys: Ride or Die:
- Theatrical: June 7, 2024
- Digital: July 23, 2024 (46 days later)
- Fly Me to the Moon:
- Theatrical: July 12, 2024
- Digital: August 13, 2024 (32 days later)
- It Ends With Us:
- Theatrical: August 9, 2024
- Digital: September 24, 2024 (46 days later)
“Venom: The Last Dance” is expected to be available digitally between 30 to 60 days after its theatrical release on October 25. Recent statistics show that three out of the last four major releases from Sony have followed a 46-day window from theatrical to digital release. This makes it likely that “Venom: The Last Dance” will also adhere to this timeline, suggesting it could become available on digital platforms around December 10.
When Will Venom: The Last Dance Release on Streaming?
Predicting when “Venom: The Last Dance” (which seems to have retconned the final scene of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”) will be available on a streaming service is somewhat complicated for several reasons.
First, the release dates for streaming are heavily influenced by a movie’s box office performance. Generally, if a film is doing well at the box office and has respectable digital purchase numbers, it will take longer for it to be made available on a streaming platform.
As of now, it’s too soon to fully assess the box office performance of “The Last Dance”, but its initial week of earnings has not been very strong.
Below are the theatrical-to-streaming release windows for several recent Sony Pictures films. The last three movies listed—”Bad Boys: Ride or Die”, “Fly Me to the Moon”, and “It Ends With Us”—are not included, as they have not yet started streaming:
- Anyone But You:
- Theatrical: December 22, 2023
- Netflix: April 23, 2024 (123 days later)
- Madame Web:
- Theatrical: February 14, 2024
- Netflix: May 14, 2024 (90 days later)
- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire:
- Theatrical: March 22, 2024
- Netflix: July 22, 2024 (76 days later)
It’s important to mention the streaming rights deal that Sony has with Netflix and Disney, which outlines how long a new release will be available on one streaming service before moving to another.
“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” is included in this agreement. The deal stipulates that once “Bad Boys” is added to a streaming service, it will be exclusively available on Netflix for 18 months, a period known as the “pay 1 window.”
After the 18 months are over, the “pay 2 window” begins, allowing Disney to stream “Bad Boys” on Disney+ and/or Hulu.
Similarly, “Venom: The Last Dance,” which received its own special popcorn bucket, is also part of this deal. Fans will have the chance to watch this movie exclusively on Netflix for the first 18 months after it begins streaming. Following that period, Disney can add it to its offerings on Disney+ and/or Hulu.
Due to the underwhelming box-office performance of “The Last Dance”, its theatrical-to-streaming release window is likely to be shorter, possibly between 70 to 90 days. If this occurs, the movie could be available on Netflix as early as mid-January 2025 or by early February at the latest.
If that timeline is accurate, the 18-month exclusive period for streaming on Netflix would conclude around the summer of 2026. After that, “Venom: The Last Dance” is expected to be available for streaming on Disney+ and/or Hulu. Currently, *Venom: The Last Dance* is playing in theaters.
