October 29, 2024 Marvel Is Already Setting Up How Venom Can Return After The Last Dance

The topic “Marvel Is Already Setting Up How Venom Can Return After The Last Dance” has two versions, a written one, and a video version below the written one.

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for “Venom: The Last Dance.”

Marvel has already set the stage for Venom’s return after “The Last Dance” in Sony’s universe. In the final installment of Sony’s “Venom” trilogy, Eddie Brock and his symbiote were separated due to a significant sacrifice made to prevent the major cosmic villain Knull, the Symbiote God, from escaping his prison in space. However, it appears there are several ways in which the Lethal Protector could make a comeback in the future.

In “Venom: The Last Dance”, it is revealed that Tom Hardy’s character, Eddie Brock, and the symbiote Venom share a unique bond that creates a codex. This bond originated when the symbiote revived Eddie from life-threatening wounds inflicted by Riot at the end of the first “Venom” movie. This codex is crucial for Knull’s release from the symbiote homeworld of Klyntar, which explains why he dispatches his symbiote-hunting creatures, known as xenophages, to pursue it. Although this motivates Venom to sacrifice himself at the end of “The Last Dance”, there are still several potential ways the symbiote can return and re-bond with Eddie in the future.

There Are Still Pieces Of Venom Left In The Marvel Multiverse

“Venom: The Last Dance” clearly establishes that the death of either Venom or Eddie would result in the destruction of the codex. This is why, at the end of the movie, Venom sacrifices himself—not only to save Eddie but also to eliminate the key to Knull’s freedom. However, both the beginning and the end of Venom: The Last Dance suggest that Venom is likely still alive.

Although it was shown in The Last Dance, the piece of the Venom symbiote that remained in the MCU, as seen at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, was never retrieved. Therefore, it’s reasonable to believe that a small fragment of Venom still exists on Earth-616, which could potentially return to Eddie in the future—or even to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man for his own Symbiote Saga.

In the post-credits scene of “Venom: The Last Dance”, a fragment of the Venom symbiote collected by Rex Strickland from Area 55 has survived. It is shown crawling around the rubble of the secret government facility as a cockroach. This suggests the possibility that one or both of these symbiote fragments could eventually come together again to reconstitute Eddie’s symbiote partner.

Venom 3 Heavily Implies Eddie Brock Will Become A Father

In “Venom: The Last Dance,” a significant portion of the story explores the possibility of Eddie Brock becoming a father. During their journey, Eddie encounters Martin Moon (played by Rhys Ifans), a free-spirited believer in aliens. Eddie and Venom hitch a ride with Martin’s family, who assist them on their way to Las Vegas.

Throughout the trip, Eddie forms a bond with Martin’s son, Leaf. When Leaf expresses his fears about aliens, Eddie reassures him and helps him confront those fears, especially when Leaf learns that Eddie is host to an alien symbiote. Additionally, the Venom symbiote itself mentions in “The Last Dance” that Eddie would make a great dad.

This may reference Eddie Brock’s status in the original Marvel Comics, where he is revealed to be a father just before Knull invaded Earth in the 2020 crossover event, “King in Black.” Similarly, Eddie having a son in the Sony universe could lead to some intriguing developments.

Venom Could Return Bonded With Dylan Brock Instead Of Eddie

The Current Venom In Marvel Comics

Marvel Is Already Setting Up How Venom Can Return After The Last Dance

In the original Marvel Comics, Dylan Brock’s mother is Anne Weying, who was Eddie Brock’s former girlfriend. Both Eddie and the Venom symbiote are technically considered Dylan’s fathers, which explains the impressive powers and control he exhibits over symbiotes that developed during the “King in Black” storyline. As a result, Dylan becomes a key target for Knull, the Symbiote God. Following Eddie’s victory over Knull, he becomes the new King in Black, while Dylan takes on the role of Venom’s new host. This development could potentially be explored in Sony’s live-action universe as well.

If Dylan were to be introduced in a future Sony project and developed a bond with one of Venom’s pieces, he could become a new on-screen Lethal Protector, just like he has been in the comics since 2021. This development would allow “Venom: The Last Dance” to truly mark the conclusion of Eddie and Venom’s story, as actor Tom Hardy has frequently mentioned in interviews and during the film’s promotional campaign. The symbiotic reins could effectively be passed on to the next generation.

Sony's Marvel Universe Already Set Up Another Venom Replacement

If Sony chooses to leave Venom out of their live-action universe, it’s worth noting that they set up a replacement symbiote hero by the end of “Venom: The Last Dance”. One of the few survivors from the battle between the symbiotes at Area 55 and Knull’s xenophages was Doctor Teddy Payne (played by Juno Temple). Having bonded with a purple symbiote that closely resembles Agony from the original comics, it’s possible that Agony and Payne could appear in future Sony projects—especially if Knull breaks free and threatens to engulf the universe in darkness.

“After all, it would certainly be odd if Venom wasn’t involved in a future movie where Knull becomes the main villain and primary threat…”

Venom’s return seems highly likely. Although it may not feature Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock, it’s evident that Sony has strategically created multiple avenues for the Lethal Protector to reappear after “The Last Dance.” It would indeed be strange if Venom were absent from a future film where Knull emerges as the main villain and primary threat.

“Venom: The Last Dance” is currently playing in theaters from Sony Pictures.
