November 7, 2024 Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Returns To The MCU With A Tragic Twist In Avengers 6 Theory

Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Returns To The MCU With A Tragic Twist In Avengers 6 Theory

The topic “Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Returns To The MCU With A Tragic Twist In Avengers 6 Theory” has two versions, a written one, and a video version below the written one.

Andrew Garfield’s return as Spider-Man could be a perfect way to integrate the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although this would build on previous storylines, his potential appearance in “Avengers: Secret Wars” could also be quite heartbreaking. For several years, Garfield faced criticism as the “Amazing Spider-Man” franchise is often considered the weakest among the live-action Spider-Man films. Despite this, Garfield was always a strong choice for the role of Peter Parker, successfully delivering both dramatic and comedic moments in his two films as Spider-Man. Even though “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” was canceled, Garfield was given another opportunity to showcase his talent as Spider-Man.

The actor was a standout in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” for many fans, as he finally made up for the loss of Gwen Stacy by saving Zendaya’s MJ from falling to her death. Since the release of the 2021 movie, fans have been eager to see him reprise his role as Spider-Man, whether in the MCU, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, or in “The Amazing Spider-Man 3.” Recently, Garfield expressed his willingness to return as Spider-Man, stating, “I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing.” A new theory has emerged regarding how he could appear in one of the MCU’s most anticipated films, “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

Avengers: Secret Wars Theory Has Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Fight Tom Holland’s

The Avengers Movie Could Pay Off A Spider-Man: No Way Home Line

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Returns To The MCU With A Tragic Twist In Avengers 6 Theory

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” brought together all three live-action versions of Peter Parker. The film showcased the strong chemistry between Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Holland on screen. With “Spider-Man: No Way Home” grossing nearly $2 billion worldwide, it seems unlikely that Marvel Studios and Sony would pass up the chance to have Maguire and Garfield return at least once more before the MCU’s Multiverse Saga concludes. Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 4,” if it ventures into the multiverse, could include both actors. However, “Avengers: Secret Wars” is the most likely project to feature the multiversal Spider-Men.
Spider-Man: No Way Home might have surpassed the $2 billion mark if it had been released in China, as Spider-Man: Homecoming grossed $116.2 million there, and Spider-Man: Far From Home grossed $199 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
In the next appearance of Garfield’s Peter Parker, he may have to face off against Holland’s Spider-Man, according to a new theory about “Avengers: Secret Wars.” This theory suggests that Holland’s Spider-Man could come into contact with the Venom symbiote. The ending of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” left Holland’s Peter Parker in a vulnerable state, making him more susceptible to the symbiote’s influence. After adopting Spider-Man’s iconic black suit, Holland’s character could succumb to the darker impulses he displayed against the Green Goblin in the final battle of “No Way Home,” turning to violence in order to protect his universe from destruction.

In the Marvel Comics’ “Secret Wars,” multiple universes collide, and some Marvel heroes destroy other Earths to safeguard their own.

In “Avengers: Secret Wars,” we might see Holland’s Spider-Man facing off against Garfield’s Peter Parker to determine who can save their respective worlds. Although both characters would likely prefer to collaborate, the influence of the symbiote could impair the judgment of the MCU’s Peter. In the comics, Spider-Man acquires the symbiote during the Secret Wars storyline. This emotionally charged confrontation would reference Garfield’s earlier line about wanting to battle an alien, but it would actually be Holland’s Spider-Man who dons the symbiote.

How Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Could Get The Black Suit In The MCU

The MCU Can Connect To Sony’s Venom Movies

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom have yet to meet, but Venom made a brief appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In this crossover, Eddie Brock, played by Hardy, learned about Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man and received a history lesson from a bartender before being sent back to his own universe. However, a piece of the Venom symbiote was left behind in the MCU. In the trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” Rex Strickland is seen collecting a fragment of the symbiote in what appears to be the same bar where Venom had his encounter. The film later reveals that Strickland is actually part of the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU).

There were two separate pieces of Venom left behind, and one of them remains in the MCU. Given that Holland’s Peter Parker is currently in a darker headspace, and considering that the character first obtained the symbiote during the comic book event “Secret Wars,” it seems likely that Spider-Man will acquire his classic black suit in “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Although “Venom: The Last Dance” concluded with the symbiote sacrificing itself to defeat the Xenophages, there is still a possibility for Venom to return through the piece that stayed in the MCU. This scenario could potentially lead to Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock making an appearance in “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

Avengers: Secret Wars Could Still Give All Spider-Man Variants A Happy Ending

The Comics Show How The Conflict Can Be Resolved

Andrew Garfield’s return as Spider-Man in the MCU should be a reason for celebration. However, the theory suggesting that he might fight Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in “Avengers: Secret Wars” could be quite heartbreaking. Given the destructive nature of the incursions that will be part of the movie, it makes sense that heroes from various non-MCU live-action Marvel films would confront characters like Holland’s Spider-Man, the Avengers, and the soon-to-be-introduced Fantastic Four to save their respective universes. This scenario could paint a bleak picture for the film. Nevertheless, there is a way for all Marvel heroes to achieve a happy ending.

Robert Downey Jr. will portray Doctor Doom as the main villain in the next two Avengers movies. The character is based on the antagonist from the comic book event that inspired “Avengers: Secret Wars.” In the comics, Doctor Doom initially succeeded in creating his own domain called Battleworld, but he was ultimately defeated by Marvel’s heroes. Similarly, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Doctor Doom could unleash chaos, causing several heroes, including Garfield and Holland’s Spider-Man, to clash and eventually create Battleworld by the end of “Avengers: Doomsday.” Following the comic story, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards might then work to recreate the multiverse and save all universes from destruction.

How Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man Could Continue After Avengers: Secret Wars

There Are Multiple Ways For Garfield To Play Spider-Man Over The Next Decade

Even though the MCU’s Multiverse Saga will conclude with “Avengers: Secret Wars,” there are several exciting possibilities for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to appear on the big screen afterward. In the comics, following *Secret Wars*, Miles Morales became a part of Earth-616. Given the popularity of both Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men, Marvel might consider a similar approach by keeping these characters in the MCU to assist during significant events. However, this scenario seems unlikely. Garfield is more likely to continue portraying Spider-Man after “Avengers: Secret Wars” outside of the MCU.

Garfield could also serve as the Spider-Man that Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) has been lacking.

Fans have been eagerly requesting the development of “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” ever since Andrew Garfield reprised his role as Spider-Man. This film could potentially bring back Emma Stone’s character, Gwen Stacy, through multiverse elements, possibly connecting to “Avengers: Secret Wars.” It could also provide insight into the current state of “The Amazing Spider-Man” universe. Additionally, Garfield’s Spider-Man could fill the gap that the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) has been lacking. The tone of Garfield’s Spider-Man films aligns well with that of Tom Hardy’s “Venom” movies, suggesting a seamless integration. Whether Garfield’s Spider-Man battles Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, as some theories propose, remains to be seen. However, Andrew Garfield has a significant opportunity to appear in “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

Marvel Studios will kick off 2025 with the animated series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” set to debut on January 29. This series will introduce audiences to an alternate universe version of Peter Parker as he embarks on his first adventures as the iconic wall-crawler.

Daredevil: Born Again

Following “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” Marvel’s Man Without Fear is making a highly anticipated return on March 4. “Daredevil: Born Again” will mark a new era for Charlie Cox’s scarlet-clad superhero, fully reintroducing him into the MCU with a gritty, R-rated storyline on streaming.

The brief teaser showcased glimpses of Cox’s Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil), along with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. After years of anticipation and numerous postponements, Ironheart is set to make its awaited Disney+ premiere on June 24. This successor to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will revolve around Dominique Thorne’s prodigious young intellect, Riri Williams, as she embarks on the dual journey of becoming a superhero while tackling the rigors of college life at MIT.

Furthermore, as hinted by glimpses in a brief Disney+ teaser, Thorne’s youthful hero will don a fresh, iron-forged look as she faces the formidable challenges that lie ahead.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 Will Release Later Than Originally Planned (Rumor Report)

The release of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 may take longer than expected. Following the huge success of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned nearly $2 billion at the box office, fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment. While Tom Holland is excited about the upcoming Spidey movie, it has been almost three years since the release of No Way Home, and the exact release date for the sequel remains unknown.

Later Expected Release for Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4

Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus recently divulged an update regarding the release timeline for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man 4 via a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Perez revealed that Sony has an untitled film slated for a theatrical debut on July 27, 2025, which is a mere nine months away. Originally, this was the intended release date for Spider-Man 4, but Perez clarified that the film has now been postponed, shifting its release to July 2026.

“This date was originally the set date for ‘Spider-Man 4.’ As of this moment, the film has been moved to July 2026.”

Back in August, insider Daniel Richtman suggested that Spider-Man 4 could be arriving in July 2026, aligning with Perez’s more recent claims and lending further credibility to the rumored delay.

What Will Happen With Spider-Man 4?

In September 2024, it was reported that the director of “Shang-Chi,” Destin Daniel Cretton, is in line to direct “Spider-Man 4.” However, progress on the sequel has been slow. The story for “Spider-Man 4” started development back in late 2021 during the press tour for “No Way Home,” but almost three years later, the film has yet to move out of pre-production. Filming is now set to start in May 2025, with Tom Holland and Zendaya expected to return for major roles. The big question is how Zendaya’s MJ will be used in the story after forgetting about Peter Parker’s existence by the end of “No Way Home.”

The latest rumors about Spider-Man 4 suggest that it could be a multiversal event similar to No Way Home, following the success of that film. If filming begins next May, the movie is expected to be released between Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027). Although details about the storyline have not been revealed, Marvel may choose to place it at a different point in the timeline. Fans are eagerly anticipating Spider-Man’s next solo adventure, which is rumored to hit theaters in 2026.

Marvel Studios Planning Tom Holland’s Return In Non-Spider-Man Movies (Report)

A new report suggests that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are potentially close to reaching a deal that would bring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a non-Spider-Man movie. By the end of 2024, it will have been over three years since the release of Holland’s last Spider-Man movie, “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” making it the longest gap between Holland-led Spider-Man movies since he took on the role.

It seems like the long wait for another Spider-Man movie may finally be over. Recent news suggests that Marvel Studios is gearing up for a fourth MCU Spider-Man film, with Destin Daniel Cretton set to take on directing duties.

A New Spider-Man Deal May Be Close

Marvel Studios Planning Tom Holland's Return In Non-Spider-Man Movies (Report)

It seems that Marvel Studios is working to bring Tom Holland back to the MCU for more appearances beyond the upcoming Spider-Man 4. Insider Daniel Richtman mentioned on his Patreon that sources have informed him about ongoing negotiations between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios for a new deal that would allow Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in multiple MCU movies.

The on-screen appearances mentioned would be in addition to the solo Spider-Man films that the studios have planned. This is similar to Holland’s roles in movies like Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Additionally, as a part of this reported deal, Richtman wrote that it would also involve Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige overseeing all of Holland’s solo Spider-Man movies.

This should alleviate concerns that Sony would have more creative control over the mainline Spider-Man films after the Jon Watts trilogy. It also alleviates concerns that Marvel Studios would no longer be able to use Holland’s character in their on-screen universe, especially outside of Sony’s villain-centric Spider-Man Universe.

Where Could Spider-Man Show Up?

The news is likely to spark speculation among MCU fans. There has been a lot of discussion about Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film, but many haven’t considered the character’s future beyond that.

It’s likely that Marvel Studios will want to use Holland’s Spider-Man in some of its upcoming projects in the next few years. The franchise has lost some major characters in the last five years (specifically Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Chris Evans’ Captain America), so the studio is probably looking for its next A-list talent to lead the franchise into its new era.

With two Avengers films planned for Marvel (Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars), it seems likely that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will play a significant role in this new version of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Apart from the mainline Avengers movies, Holland is also expected to appear in the Young Avengers project that has been hinted at by the studio.

In last year’s “The Marvels,” Iman Vellani’s Kamala Kahn hints at recruiting Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, suggesting that the MCU may be setting the stage for the appearance of the super-powered teenage team on-screen in the near future. When the dominoes start to fall for the “Young Avengers,” it’s likely that a talent like Holland’s Spider-Man would be a top choice to lead such a squad. However, it’s important to note that the “Young Avengers” project is still just a rumor, so Holland’s involvement is not confirmed.

At this point, the character is most likely to appear in Spider-Man 4, reportedly set to start filming sometime next year. Spider-Man 4 has no official release date.
